I Remember

Contributed by savannah on Friday, 4th July 2003 @ 02:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I remember when it first began
This like for you that I carried for so long
It was a year ago, it was summer
The night was warm and filled with fireworks
And your contagious laugh

I remember when it stopped
The like I had for you that I had carried around
It was a few months ago, it was winter
The night was cold and filled fireworks
And you with another as the new year began

I remember when it started again
The like I had for you that I almost forgot
It was a month ago, almost summer
The night was warm and I was lonely
And you were there ready and waiting

I remember when you finally kissed me
Finally recognizing the like you had for me
It was two weeks ago, it was summer
The day was hot and you wore a polo shirt
And I fell headfirst into your lips

I'll remember when it ends for good
When the like l have for you flickers out
It'll be a few weeks from now, it'll be summer
The night will be cool, and I won't be lonely
And I'll always love the friend you'll still be
