Cutting the pain away

Contributed by pl_rage on Friday, 9th August 2002 @ 06:36:08 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I sit with a sharp blade in my hand
The need to hurt myself I can resist
But the need to feel is overwhelming
Something other than the pain inside
A touch more real
Be it pleasure or pain
I dont care, but I crave it now
The blade is my best friend
Always there when I need it
I press it against my skin
Its touch so pure and serene
Drawing a line, red on white
Ah, sweet agony, it feels so good
I must do it again and again
It hurts less each time
But the burning feeling remains
A warm lingering touch
Heeding my call for comfort
For a while I can feel at peace
Calmed by the kiss of steel

this poem is amazing. I understand how you feel completely. I've been there before and I have since returned. You've put it into words so well. Yet again this poem is great. I'm looking forward to reading more.
