An Angel's Punishment

Contributed by Eternal_Darkness on Wednesday, 9th July 2003 @ 03:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

Fierce eyes through the wand of heaven
Day of shadow, night of light
Echoed screams of forbidden sin
Echoed silence of magick's sight

An angel's punishment is immortal life
Hidden within the blood red sky
Within God's hands there lies the knife
The flashes of innocence are all a lie

Mortal pleasure, immortal pain
Death to innocence, birth to tears
The time has come to feel the rain
Nothing can erase the empty years

The nightmare is awake
The daydream is dead
Magick we learned to forsake
As is done, so is said

Faerie became the angel
Silk became her wings
She sits upon night's windowsill
Songs of hope she sings

Despair of yesterday now lay slain
the faeries sleep atop a hill
The sun has come to pass the rain
God's evil is truly his will

This is truly a masterpiece. Concepts are easy to understand, and yet paint a picture in the mind of the reader. Wonderfully worded to capture the plight.

You are an amazing poet.
