a doorbell rings in the hollow of the empty house ricochets against the sightless walls slams against the blindfolded windows and doors plunks on the flesh-soft sofas sits at the dining table and tastes the dinner grown black with fungus wanders into the womb of the bedroom and settles down on the bed so staring-wide stretches and yawns and languorously turns and looks at the smiling picture on the bedside table beside the face of the clock where time is trapped
