Bond Fire

Contributed by Red_Silo on Thursday, 24th July 2003 @ 10:05:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Hanging around for a lonely friend,
Waiting for their solemn call.
Look at me when Im talking to you,
Look at me in the eye.
Find this answer for me and tell me why.

A bon fire,
Burning bright flames that light the ten oclock air.
It seems insects are supposed to be called to this,
They may all be signaled but theyre not all are there,
Is it the heat, the refuge, light, I cant tell.

From the highest in the chain to the lowest in rank,
They all have the same chance to warm,
For cold mists can leave a body tattered and torn.

Some are lead to the porch,
To something maybe thought to be more promising,
So blue,
So beautiful that steals the wind from you.

These are all the bugs lost along the way,
Some who traveled far and some who had always stayed.
Maybe they were looking for something,
Or maybe they just wanted to pray.

As were still here waiting, especially this late,
Mosquitoes arrive to feast off our plate.
Only to gain at others expense,
I know some of my brothers that are guilty of this.

But theyve come for the fire too,
The one that holds us all together in this bond,
Were closer than you think, just remember,
We insects can be lost is these woods forever, its the truth,
But once its too late theres nothing we can do.

Late at night.
Does this vision haunt you?
Hes the one that wants you.
