last night
as i gazed out my window across the hills
my thoughts began to wander
to a place where they have been many times before
back to that day
when i first met you
and now as i sit
as i sit and write these words
i sit and think of you
of the way you make me feel
the way you bring a smile to my face
the way you believe in me
the way you give me hope
hope that i will see you again
and now
as i lie in my bed
waiting for the serenity of sleep
to take me into it's depths
i begin to dream
of the day i will wrap my arms around you
and hold you tight
with hopes that i will never have to let go
i dream of laying
with you in my arms
and watching the sun rise over the world
feeling it's warmth on our faces
as we hold each other close
never wanting to let go
to lose one another
to return to the real world
and then i wake
and am filled with joy and sadness all at once
and then
as i gaze out my window across the hills
my thoughts begin to wander
to a place they have been many times before
back to that day
when i met you
