Speak softly with tones of calm
Let them know you care
Allow them first to realize
The reason that your there
Its not for you to give advice
Or judge them or compare
But sit and listen to their world
Of sorrow and despair
Sooth their pain with empathy
Take them by the hand
And gently lead them from this place
To find a brighter land
You cannot solve their problems
Or take onboard their pain
But help them through just one more day
Whilst they their strength regain

An open ear and a strong shoulder is what most of us require in life, but so seldom ever receive. For those of us who once had but lost, this is just a small reminder.
Time given generously, is worth a small fortune to those in need of an ear.
