What?

Contributed by stylle on Wednesday, 30th July 2003 @ 12:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

What were you doing the day your world fell apart
I was dreaming, at least, I thought I was
What did you wish for as you questioned existence
Or did you bother to care at all?
I was asking for absolution
I thought it'd be simple - I guess maybe not
I was the object of unfounded anger
Like a saint to kill solace cuz who wants to be calm?
What were you thinking when you lifted the dagger
To lay it to rest inside your wounded heart
Were you thinking you'd make the whole deal that much better
By freeing us all from your hard kind of art?
What was the reason you wrote in your soul
And kindly forgot to scrawl on the wall
Would the reminder of faith lost be so much harsher
Than the absence of any kind of something at all?
What were you doing the day your world fell apart
Were you thinking of hate or were you thinking at all
Were you thinking of who had torn you asunder
Or were you wondering where you were going to go
Maybe I just want to understand
I swear, I'll try, I won't hold it against you
What were you thinking when you saw the angels
Were you thinking you saw me...
Or your salvation from me?

incredible poem... you very well showed the reader the pain and suffering inflicted from a suicide, well crafted the questions your mind had... the last line adds an extra punch to the heartbreak by expressing a fear of that person running from you and dying to do so.... simply excellent and well done
