She Sleeps Too Soon

Contributed by pikul on Tuesday, 5th August 2003 @ 02:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Years of melting clocks of silver, ticking in the age of pain,
Have washed away the whispers heard, from souls left lonely in the rain.
For they foretold the myths that hold the life before grayest birth,
Before the spell of darkness came, and cast itself upon the earth.

Where nothing but the moon can see, the screeching of the tortured heart,
The tortured mind, which left behind, the stories of the sacred start.
And they have shuttered in the cold, among the fields of dark dismay,
So they have bled the mystic tears, which lead their minds to hide away.

The liquid darkness spread its wings and poured its blood across the skies,
Demons danced within the shadows burning death into their eyes.
Ice and thunder pierced us like a white-hot knife that craved our screams,
Behold, our mouths were filled with cinder as we dreamt an endless dream.

The world engulfed by flames that scorched the silver stars began to cry,
The solitude that kissed the night was cast upon the dying sky.
And standing in the smoke and rubble underneath a bleeding moon,
A shadow whispered,
Dark as death she sleeps too soon, she sleeps too soon

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
