Where once..........

Contributed by Katie-Kate on Monday, 11th August 2003 @ 03:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Where once were happy faces,
I now see hollow souls.
Where once their chatter made me smile,
Their hearts are empty holes.

Where once I knew there was peace,
I now know conflict stands.
But it isn't amongst the friendships,
It's inside away from helping hands.

Where once they shared their feelings,
They now keep bottled inside.
They're confused by their emotions
And ashamed, so now they hide.

Where once they saw their future,
they now see darkeness and hate.
They wish they could control their life
Instead of rely on fate.

Where once there seemed a point to things
And a reason to be alive.
There now stands doubt and hesitation
But still there is an unseen drive.

Where once the set purpose to live was visible
And emotion was everywhere
There is now this 'existance'
It's not seen, or heard, just there.

Where once this existance was enough
To keep them from turning back
There is now a greater need
The reason to life, is what is lacked.

Where once certain things were ignored,
there is now a level of thought
That haunts you in the night hours
The answers to questions saught.

Where once their mind was strong,
And nothing could make them cower.
Their reasoning is distorted
Like the wilting of a flower.

Where once their cry for help
Could make things all go away
There is now an eternal Tyrant
That will be with them till their last day.

Where once a simple word or smile,
Could change their state of mind
It now remind them of failure
And blackens the heart of their kind.

Where once their was love and hope,
And happiness and faith and life,
There is now the stone cold memories
And the grief of their life-ending strife.

This is really great. Glad I got to read this. It sound like they feel hopeless, despair kinda sad but enjoyed it. KImmie_mac

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
