Prayer

Before I die
let me row along the *Murry river's mouth
and let it be
rushing free
flowing fully... out.

Before I die
let me try
to speak before a crowd
let me find the courage to
say my words... out loud.

Before I die
let make my peace with those I've bruised,
before I die
let me use all gifts I've kept ... unused.

Before I die
let me make a garden
fit ...for kings
let me grow a paradise
where native birdlife... sings.

Before I die
let me give away ALL that I own
let me learn that
love ( just... love)
reveals to me : 'Sweet home.'

Before I die
let me lose the I inside myself
(not lured to comforts or to gains.
or monetary wealth.)

Before I die
let me find the way to get it right
let me tear down all my walls
and face you without fright.

Before I die
let me finally reach the mountain high,
let me not shurk
life's toil or work...
please....before ,I die.

Before I die
God
let me do something to make you smile,
before I die
let me try
to make my life... worthwhile.

And as I die
may I feel that my life.... 'was good'
Father,
help me get it RIGHT,
please God....
if you would?

footnote
*
*Murry river=a dieing river in Australia,(it's mouth is almost closed).

My daughter just did a spell check for me
when she read this poem. Boy-did she criticize this one so now I have no option than to add another verse, here it is:

Before I die
please God
let me learn to spell
for writing poems without that gift is
indeed
almost like
hell!

p.s.
My spelling of * Murray River
was incorrect this is the correct spelling.

I noticed the spelling of "Murray" ... but it didn't take away from your incredible poem ... you have awesome talent ... and it's a pity more people didn't notice this one .... well done ... (DreamWeaver) Jan
