You Can't Always Be There

Contributed by Katie-Kate on Saturday, 16th August 2003 @ 10:25:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

In everyday life
You watch people that you care for
Fall apart emotionally.
They can't cope anymore.
You wish that you could help them,
Rid them of their pain.
Restore their life to normal,
Fill them with love again.
But they reject your assistance.
They can't see how you can help.
You try to stop their suffering
At great expense to yourself.
You put your life on hold
You try to share their pain
A problem shared is a problem halved
But your life is just as insane.
It hurts to watch their misery
Frustrations kept inside.
Resentment and hate
you desperately try to hide.
Your life has gone downhill
Since you started to be there
But if they don't want to get better,
Why should you care.
Although you still love them
They're taking you down too
You can't restore their happiness
It's only harming you.
