Do you care what others think of you Do you let their pressure force you down Do you set your goals to please them For their sake, do you hide your frown?
Your thoughts are not your own Your clothes are not the real you Your image is out of a magazine Your beliefs, role models and morals are too
How long since you've listened to your heart How long since your soul has shone through How long have you been repressed How long since anyone has seen the real you
Does your social life reflect you Does it satisfy your needs Does it make you feel more confident Does it provide you with new leads
See how you've become a sheep See how you've joined the ranks See how uniqueness has vanished See how popularity is held in banks.

Katie, What a joy to read. An incisive, origional point of view presented it true poetic form. It rhymes and scans. Powerful points hammered (excellent use of repetition) home AND what a punch line at the end.
I don't think I would have realised how true it is before I retired a few years back. It brings a poem to mind.........
No more conforming
No more grind
No more standing in line
No more straight-jacket mind
No more keeping the image
No more neat on the shelf
No more same as the others
Just pleasing myself
Needs working on. Now look what you've started.
