One Man's Poison

Contributed by norm on Sunday, 24th August 2003 @ 03:35:00 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

An awful woman on TV and looking like a shrew,
With wear and tear and matted hair and clothing all askew,
Was interviewed by anchor man and this is what she said,
"I fell into a pit of dirt and thought that I was dead."

Four full days she lingered there and all she did was yelp,
Then, finally came a gentleman and gave her saving help.
The anchor looked at weather stats and found that it had rained,
"How did you survive?", he asked, "GOD", she answered strained.

When I was passing by the room wherein the people sat
I heard a voice proclaim this fact, a neice, I guess, at that,
"T'wasn't god who helped her out.. but god who pushed her in,
T'was satan who had helped her out, to bedevil all her kin."

When you beseach the deities to help you in or out,
or miracles you ask performed, are you on proper route?,
You may ask the deities but which one will you get,
An anti-deity you get, t'will make you want to shout...

Long ago when man was born
Much long before he could've sworn
Decided he for incomprehensibility
To make a God or Goddess or deity.

With so many beliefs and Gods today…
To keep the errors out of the way
I suggest specifying to whom the prayer goes
This way it’ll go only to the deity you chose.

And might ye not get an answer...

My dear friend Norm, please don't think I'm being facetious,
That's not my intent...at all.
Either you've taken to drink....
Or I missed what it was you think....
Did that poor woman fall?
Or was she really pushed in?
And I thought a kind gentleman helped her out,
I'm so confused I think I'd rather shout!
Loved your poetry though, this was not a limerick was it?
lovingcritters
