Try listening unselfishly

Lifepoems

A man can talk about his material and all his valueables, but can he ever just listen? Listen to the sounds of the world unselfishly.
A lonely teenager, her reflection bleak and her reasons for leaving, no longer phsyical but emotional. All she had wanted was for someone to love her and softly whisper she was beautiful. And while the whole world gives in, were you ever there to just listen- listen to what she didn't have to say?
A new born infant just brought into this world, his proud mother and father watching over him thoughtful tears running down their cheeks. Some of the most precious moments in your lifetime are not said with words. Were you listening?
A hopeful teenage boy, his saxaphone in hand, and while everyone laughs and points, because the notes do not come out right- he does not give up. The stage is his safe sancution and they can not harm him here. And while he stands up and tells them of his dreams... did you notice the little things, the things he did not say?
A happy graduate smiling out over the class before him. It was a struggle but he finally made it. And as he glances down at the large audience, his Father winks at him in support. They never had the greatest relationship and at that time... nothing else seems to matter. Could you see the joy in his face, or did you not even pay attention?
A joyful party to celebrate their lives before them, her mother embracing her tightly. She loves the man with all she has and plans to make him very happy. Very softly her mother kisses her cheek and whispers, "Love without holding back." And with a smile on her face, she knows that everything will be all right. But did you?
So many humans can talk. But can they listen? Do they hear the little things, hear and feel the little moments that impact lives? Are you among the few that listen unselfishly... and instead of talking just listen? Are you among those people... that understood this poem at all?

Oh wow... I don't even know what to say to this... parts of it make me want to shove it in the face of everyone I know and other parts of it make me want to cover my face in shame... this really got to me, so good work. Excellently written, this packs a punch.
