Depression's Song

Bitter, angry, complacent This world leaves me with nothing My mouth moves silently, As I scream inwardly
Sick of being pushed around By the perverse whims of the world Drowning, trying to pull myself up I fell cause of my own stupidity I'm never closer to being free
Surrounded by demons cursing my name There in my head can't chase them away They hunt me and tear me down like a pack of wolves And gloat over their beaten, bloodied prize
I'm losing control of myself Every breath is an effort There's a pool of blood in my hands From my severed veins I never meant it to be like this!
Hiding in a corner Averting your steady gaze I'm bloody and sore My insecurities batter my weak defenses
I can't fight anymore Can't place my depression On any one source I'm sick of stumbling That's the only thing I know

Well written and graphic. I can really
feel the pain that these words are
screaming out. Please don't give in to
this song.Really touched me.
Take care,

Joel, beautiful and tragic at the same time. Dont let the demons inside you take over your life. Very bittersweet.

Joel, this has such dark, yet beautiful imagery, and it felt as though i was being drawn into the poem itself.. I loved the second from last stanza best, but it was all great..

Very well written.
"Surrounded by demons cursing my name
There in my head can't chase them away
They hunt me and tear me down like a pack of wolves
And gloat over their beaten, bloodied prize"
Great stanza. Great poem! |
