Poor Moth

Contributed by squeakymouse on Friday, 12th September 2003 @ 03:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

A puny and insignificant moth
Trying so hard to achieve butterfly,
Drawn to your incandescent brilliance.
He could not help but be pulled too near,
Flitting in so close then darting away.
Flapping blarney wings in front of your eyes,
Desperately he tries to blind you.
He does not want you to see his secret;
That he flies too close to many lights.
But yours the brightest and the best,
He singes tender wings in your exhilarating radiance.
Careening crazily away at furious pace,
He flies rapidly back to a green homeland,
To sit sulkily in wounded darkness,
Nursing bitter wounds, he closes down,
No more to seek you, my resplendent star.
Your passion flame burns more brightly now.
Shine on, Dear Heart, shine on!
