A Most Magical Evening

Contributed by Butterat_Zool on Friday, 16th August 2002 @ 07:43:44 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Faeries watching, dancing in the twilight
on leaves still wet from the afternoon showers,
flickering past in the corner of your eye
just enough to make you look.
But still you convince yourself it was really nothing
and go on with your walk,
holding hands with a girl youve known for only a few weeks,
enraptured by the tales of youth and innocence
that glide from her elegant lips
and carry your eyes skyward to the perfect tranquility
of the heavens while you, with impeccable timing,
relate the stories of the twenty or so constellations
that you made up when you were still young enough to sit in the grass.
And you point out the residents of your astral city,
the cook, the fireman, the dinosaur, the pirate,
before you look again at her delicate face
and the twinkle in her eye,
that belittles even the great Betelgeuse,
again captures and warms your soul.
Those gem-like eyes, coupled with that soft and innocent face,
reminiscent of a young doe, lapping her life-drink from a crystalline stream,
are the sole focus of the evening
and succeed in keeping you perfectly distracted
while a dozen sprites, still just out of reach for your eyes,
sprinkle their sacred pollen over your heads
as the fog rolls in
and you and your perfect girl
drift away into the moonlight
into the land of elves and dragons
where the hearts deepest desires
are certain to come true.
You sit with her
on a tree branch
in some magical forest
as she floats off to cloud cuckoo land
right there in your arms.
You know.
You have been blessed.
With love.
And with eternal happiness.
For now, you know.
The two are but the same.

If only the whole world could be this way. Absolutely beautiful.
