My Downfall
I give myself to my best friends, they ask my love, I give
they meet me they need me, I promise never to hurt
and to help them regain their feeling, their loving
I willingly allow myself to fall, show care
If I can help mend just one broken heart I will
for this is my friend before me, a shell
I embrace, show love, fall in love
give her my heart, my soul, my devotion
But dear god in heaven, who will help me?
who will take my heart and heal it when I hurt
who will take me and hold me to her breast
caress me, care for me, hold me - love me?
I heal them and they hug me and say "thanks, my friend"
then wave and go away, so far away
I feel so much love, but oh so cheated - oh god, why me?
Is this my destiny? to give my soul - lose my heart
Where is MY angel. MY saviour, the one
the one who will take my heart and cherish it forever
give to me as I have given..just love me
Is that too much to ask - please just a little love
Where is she? am I to be this empty vessel, void and dry
am I damned to love and never be loved in return...never?
All the love in the world will still flow from me
but please dear god, let me be loved and not to lose
In dark skies I see one hand reaching out to me
is this one who gives as easily as takes? - hope
I grasp the hand, and feel warmth, love
healing so true and all that is good....can she be?
Feeling loving tender arms holding me
a voice so sweet I hear it in dreams - in waking too
is this the one who will mend my heart, allow me
show me how to live, to receive love - be fulfilled
And, in return I give my all, but now with joy
and the knowing that my love given will return
my heart will beat in unison with one other
my angel, my girl - MY LOVER
