assisted suicide

Contributed by Cancer on Friday, 26th September 2003 @ 05:45:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

i watched him prepare
and his smile was all i could see
i couldn't remember ever seeing him
so childishly happy

leaving cryptic messages
to those he'd leave behind
blatant accusations
in places they'd be sure to find

he speaks to me out of necessity
i am his only friend
it kinda made me sad to see
him so excited about the end

he told me of all the people
that he wished that he had killed
and i patiently sat through his lament
o'er the blood he never spilled

and i cried with him
when the time grew near
even through his excitement
he still felt the instinctive fear

i told him i was sorry
about the way that things had gone
he dried his tears, smiled and said,
"don't worry, it will all be better by dawn"

the sink filled with ice water
to dull the sting of the blade
almost funny to see how he'd grown to hate
the pain that cutting made

the time arrived, his face grew pale
and we exchanged hollow farewells
he was so nervous, but tried to laugh it off
with a smiling, "i'll see You in hell"

(i hated to see him go
so ***** hard to let him go
always been there for me
even when i didn't want him to be
i wish i hadn't hated him for so long
maybe if i'd loved him, he would've stayed

so hard to let go)

through tears, i smile into the mirror
at this man that i assist
and he just smiles right back at me
as i begin to slit his wrists

Wow. I'm not quite sure what to say about this one. I liked the mood you put into this poem.
almost funny to see how he'd grown to hate
the pain that cutting made
I loved those 2 lines sounds a lot like me.

Oh my!!! The pain, it was too much for me. I'm gonna cry... Too late I am. Such a powerful write. Something I don't think I could ever go through with my best friend, even if I expected it from them. The peoples pain that are left behind by a suicide hurts so much. At least you were there and knew why. Oh so sad. Take care.
Emma.
