The tears I shed for you

certain moments
tears named for you
threaten to flee my eyes
stubborn as i am
i grit my teeth
and bare the hurt
deep within my heart
for once i was your caterpillar
you cucooned me with
your love and warmth
until a butterfly i emerged
and flew off
leaving you to hurt
so when the tears
begin to fall
i simply tell myself
i have no rit
for it was my choice
to fly off into the sunset
stranding you
with no one to help
pick up the pieces
of the heart i shattered
but in these moments
when tears escape
i miss you most
and how you meant
the world to me
tears dripping from my eyes
knowing a piece of me
with you will always remain
