A little wrapped box

Contributed by lostforgood on Saturday, 11th October 2003 @ 12:43:01 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I realized something in the car tonight
As I watched the clouds
Whisk past the moon

I am just like a wrapped box
All shiny and perfect with a big pretty bow
Showing on the outside
And inside is a fragile gift
That can't be shaken around to much

But see, that's what happened
To many people came along and shook me
And now the gift inside
Is left in broken pieces
But the precious wrapped box
Still looks fine outside

And people come along to see what's inside
But upon picking the box up and finding
There are nothing but broken pieces rattling about
They put it back down and abandon it
Leaving it to the next passer-by

That's what I am
A wrapped box
Normal on the outside with a few little tears
Shattered on the inside
Beyond recognition
There is no glueing it back together
The only thing left is for someone to come along
And rip apart the outside
Letting the broken pieces scatter on the floor
And ground into the world
Only to be forgotten

Oh my! That is exactly how I feel...written so excellently. I hope that you find your way...I am still searching for mine...it takes time. All the best and take care.

Emma.
