It's been a year ago. I can't believe I'm going back. Back into your home. Back into your home.
It's been years since I've been there, Been years since I walked through that door. It's been a year. Been a year.
I can't touch you And I can't see you And I can't hold your hand. I can't kiss you And I can't hug you And I can't hold your hand.
You're six feet under You're dragging me down. Dragging me down Dragging me down twice as far.
I didn't think much about you. I pushed you far from my mind. Both of you Both of you Both of you ARE on my mind.
I'm going back Finally back I'll see your home once again. It's been so long. Been so long.
But I can't touch you And I can't see you I can't even hold your hand. I can't kiss you And I can't hug you I can't even hold your hand.
I miss you so much I miss you both But I can't talk to the dead. I only pray You found your way Into my Savior's hand.
It's been years ago I can't believe I'm going back One last time. I'm going back one final time I wish you were there.

My great grandfather died about three years ago because of old age. My great grandmother moved from their house in West Virginia, to my grandparrents house here in Indiana. We never went back to their house untill now.
It's being sold, so we're taking out all their old stuff. I'm going back to help move furniture and the like. I haven't been there and years, and as far as I know, no one has touched the place in that long.
My great grandfather was a miner in his day. He was a great old guy, but I guess I was just too young to apreciate him for who he really was. He died when I was thirteen or fourteen. My great grandma died just last year.
Ther'es a few other stanzas I'd like to add to that poem about now. I'm going to make a revised edition. |

I know how you feel. I have had to deal with three deaths this year. That's definitely not one of my strong points, but have been able to manage. I hope you are able to cope and manage as well (even though I see this was written some time ago), Ted Bare. |
