GROUND HEROES

Through the rubble and into death The smoke within, they catch a breath On that spot they call ground zero Emerge the ones I call "ground heroes"
Tirelessly they work As they did before this terror Our lives have been all changed How can anyone bring such horror
Bucket by bucket and with God's good grace hope drives them on as the grief shows on their face
They carry on throughout the night While the sleeping world forgets Embracing one another, So no one has regrets
No one will ever say, they "didn't do enough" That they "gave up too soon" For they gave it their all, And all they gave for us. ~ Robbie ~

Robbie I loved this poem the first time I read it, but after just returning from visiting Ground Zero it means even more. You caught the emotions of all of us who watched the horror that day.

I agree with Peg.
This poem brought back all the different emotions I felt 9/11 and after that.
Great write, wonderful. |
