If Only
If only I could remember
The face that had touched mine
Your eyes...so valiant! Yet filled with sorrow.
They withstood the tests of time
A picture of you is painted
In the back of my mind
The colors, -- once bright, but now have faded
Into a vague picture
That none other-- save me can find
If only you could remember
The way things used to be
But now, with you, and all tears shed
Are now but only a memory...
...Only a memory
