i fall deeper into my pit
i could almost swear i was crazy
my loved one keeps reassuring me
it is only the alzheimers pit
i see people who are not there
i am so frightened will they go away
i see things flying around my head
it is only the alzheimers pit
i have horrible nightmares scarey and all
i lash out in fear go away go away
my world is no longer reality at all
it is only the alzherimers pit
i can no longer distinguish real or not
i feel i am finally lost with no return
my loved one must be devastated no return
it is only the alzheimers pit

Wonderfully written poem. My Mother died with Alzheimers disease. You have stated it so well here...it is so hopeless, and they suffer so much. From a very wise and active mind....that is suddenly shut completely out! It's devastating to everyone near. And the poor souls are in constant fear! Like you said, even in their dreams...it is so cruel...
I'm so sorry for you...I've been there!

This is a real tear jerker. My Mother has Alzheimer's and I could relate to this all too well.
It is a good poem.
