The Road to Nowhere

Topic: DarkPoetry

Walking down the same road, the same path
with the all too familiar twists and turns.
Up ahead is the never ending mountain I have climbed so many times before.
It is the path of good intentions-
the road to nowhere.
How did I get here?
Where did I make a wrong turn?
Did I stumble and fall somewhere along the way?
All I know is that I am here and I am lost
struggling to find my way.
Listening for a single word to guide me
to get me out of this place.
But all I hear is silence,
breaking and damaging silence.
The eerie stillness that-
chills your bones and brings,
that tightness to your chest-
that feeling of strangulation
that ache in your chest and lungs-
that feeling of tortured emotion...
unreleased tears
that burn your eyes
unspoken words
that remain behind quivering lips
They cannot go free
only to bear a weakness hidden behind my walls
not needed for so long.
But that wall is on this path
climb it or
break it down?
turn away or
face it?
Yet, still there is silence
nothing to guide me nor comfort me
nothing but the silence...
Silence,
twisting, turning, climbing...
getting nowhere
The path of good intentions
the road to nowhere
How did I get here again?
