final vows

Contributed by merry on Sunday, 9th November 2003 @ 01:56:11 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

more than we thought
was lost to us then
inside of that space
we took liberties
and then some
revoked the license
to call it love
because it was not
what we thought it was
retired to vacancy
signs in the window
waiting and watching
i call it silence
perfect and flat
without ripples
or emotional outbursts
sleeping is death
the darkness opressive
candles burn nightly
in the name of all that is holy
where are you now
i can only guess
perhaps it was only a test
of my will and devotion
i'll shave my head in the morning
take vows
make everything final
as i promised
not to love you
i will love him completely
his ring on my finger
his name on my lips
the prayers are said
with mystical grace
songs to live by
when life grinds to a halt
outside these walls
there is but existence
and inside i find peace
in the solitude of silence
my last words are said

merry
