A baby's cries accompany the pre-dawn chatter of birds- The wind,so vociferous the whole night through, Now seems to have taken a vow of silence- Soon the day will come in layers of light and colour; The moon will be outshone by the sun- But for now the night-blue sky and virgin half- moon; The loquacious birds and the restless child, Help me nurse my longing- Even the quiet wind is like a guiding spirit I sense in the room with me; All company in my salute with a little early-harvest wine, To the hole in my soul.
