My Dearest Son

My Dearest Son

I never get tired of being here,
Holding you hand throughout your fears.

Making sure there are no monsters under the bed,
Setting your mind at ease, as you lie your head.

Let it be my voice that chases away,
The boogieman and the tears of the day.

Let me stroke your eyebrows, until at last you fall asleep.
I leave you my heart, its yours to keep.
