You came to me within my dreams Reopening a door into my past Replenishing a picture long dissolved Of the man my childhood once tightly grasped.
You came to me within my dreams Bestowing a silent message upon my ears One I've yet to tear apart and seek out Possibly waiting for you to save my tears.
You came to me within my dreams Awakening the memory of you once again So grandpa, tell me, what brings you here Why tug at the scars I've hidden so deeply within?
Is it because I'm heading toward the same mistake as before Not spending time with the ones I really should? Keeping my distance from a father and his family Is there something I'm missing that could do some good?
Or are you just trying to burden me Drown me with my own sorrow and pain? Reminding me of a teenagers brutal mistakes And cursing me for a heart so vain.
Could it simply be that I was thinking of you A happy passing to restore some light? Tell me grandpa, what brings you here What's the message I missed within the night?
