Its an unholy mess
Whichever way you look
Discord seems everywhere
From Chicago to Kirkuk
Is there anyone out there
Whos really keeping cool?
Or is the whole damn world
Stirred up by one fool?
The spin machine works overtime
To convince you all is well
To vote right you must believe it
Or their plans go all to hell
Never before was there a time
When fantasy could replace fact
When manipulation was the rule
And supplied what reality lacked
I worry you dont have access
To whats REALLY going down
Forget the press and get online
BENEATH that spinning sound
I know that there are sound bytes
Designed to mould your view
We must reach more solid ground
There are many just like you
Theres this girl called Riverbend
She lives in wrecked Baghdad
Read her log of life
Though the truth may make you sad
In this time of lies
We must talk - one to one
The powers-that-be we all know
Won't drop their smoking gun
Forget the PR, the spin, the hype
And look deep inside alone
Ignore these endless fantasies
And their lying deadly drone
