Artificial Happiness

Record my thoughts and trace them in the dirt Kick a rock and it rolls forever
Feeling or belonging to nothing Get out of the cold with a straight face
Close my jacket for the first time without asking why
Lying awake and dreaming at the same time Faithfully holding onto something
Empty words we never spoke My eyes are fighting sleep Red and indisposed
Sorry for everything that happened And happy for it all
Waiting around forever Hang up the call
Prescriptions and bottles Tired of the same old things
Buttons and lights on the phone So sick of the nonexistent rings
Empty words I spoke to myself Caring for nothing or the pain I dealt
Wishing for always And asking for never
Taking from no one Not being together
Prescriptions that take hold of me Swallow artificial happiness
Lying awake tormented, laughing Falling for the trickery my pain provides
Wishing like hell you didn't despise me
Blurry words on plastic caps Two capsules in the morning
Prescriptions that offer nothingness Artificial motivation with no warning
Controlling my smiles that always fade Pop that pill again
Drop that blade
Take off my glasses Dry my cheeks with my arms
Take two capsules in the morning You can lie awake
Devoted to faithful thoughts and tears Where would I be?
Moments in time without the curves of a frown
Losing so much time as I lay me back down
Lying awake and dreaming at the same time Devoted to something
Prescription bottles ripping and gnashing Losing my humanity
Take two capsules in the morning Losing an ounce of sanity
Eyes fighting sleep Allied with my thoughts
Sleep losing a battle A battle never fought
Twist off the cap, pull out the two
Capsules that have tiny little writing And are the brightest color blue
Remind me of artificial happiness And of these dying eyes
Fake the way I hold myself And I'll fake my motivation
Losing my sense of hope sometimes Never losing my dedication
Prescription bottles everywhere
Littering the floor I tell you that I'm satisfied
And they still feed me more
Take two capsules in the morning Don't you dare forget
If you lose your artificial happiness
Life full of regret
I have my desparate desires that I tell on the phone My intent thrown so out of control
Emotions full of artificial motivation
And bottles full of pills
Lying awake tomorrow night So faithfully
Empty my words and my bottles Close my jacket tight
Losing this artificial battle Eyes against sleep will fight
Prescriptions control, throwing me around Losing my sense of anything
You
And my feet float so far off the ground

This entire poem is just one swirling mist of misery.... I'm not usually into that type of thing (generally I'm quite a happy person) but this worked.... I can't explain it too well, but I can read this one and not dwell on the fact that it's dark poetry..... it's just exposing the pain of sorrow....
I think it's not what I'd normally read, but I like it anyways =)
Great work. If you can convince me dark poetry is worth reading, you've done a great thing ; )
God bless,

Very good writing!
I take Zooloft and I surely welcome its artifitial happiness. Actually it's not artifital it jus helps my brain slow enuff to process better.
I say bing on the pills as my life was a living hell without them!
good work-n-take the pills. Heck with writing this good ya need to keep on taking um.
peace, joy, luv, bring on the pills,
emy
