is there something symbolic in the way he nods his head reminds me of my father and his father before him they are all tall and thin very blue eyes makes me grin at how this gene pool works how perfectly imperfect it is and the girls look like their mother the boys will be handsome men the old men were young once they like to tell their stories we tell them to stop bragging they laugh really loud and we move into the other room gather round the table drinking coffee and the kids play under our feet like kittens sleepy eyes and static electricity in their hair they are full of our dreams we are a mystery to them the bay is a smooth as glass from grandfathers front yard we watch the day come to an end he lives alone now but does not seem lonely he is surrounded at the moment by three generations
