Father, I have sinned Life has been short and without virtue Whenever shall I win? Father, though I have; I never meant to hurt you I have stood without faith Truly I have stood for vanity or not at all Your word I forsaked As you watched on I rejected the call Now you come to judge I stand before you with mighty pride alone Mighty pride and a twenty pound sledge So you cast me out, now so shall I strike you down Without you I've no sin I can have my sanity if you die Now it shall be that I always win
Oh father, why do you cry? Forgive this strike to your head I must forever close your eyes to my reflection Forgive my but you must be dead I can't ever allow anymore introspection Smash you down with a thud Burying you in the clay of which you say I'm from Baptize myself in your blood And finally here is the day when all things are done

Understand this is metaphorically speaking about our tendency to ignore our own faults and sins and in doing so the blood of Christ falls on our hands. It is not literal in any sense. I posted this down here instead of on top because I wanted your mind to wander first before you consider the real meaning of the poem. Leave a comment even if it's mean and nasty please.
