Teach Me The Way To Love

Contributed by Lia on Tuesday, 27th August 2002 @ 08:42:21 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I close my eyes and I see you there
I sleep at night and dream about you
No words can describe how I feel about you
I could say you're the reason I live
Or I'd die for you
But it wouldn't explain how my heart feels
I could say you're perfect in every way
Or your faults are too small to notice
But it wouldn't explain what my eyes see
I could say you're words are always true
Or I love the way you say my name
But it wouldn't explain what I hear
I could tell you you're the strongest
Or your hands are always soft
But it wouldn't explain what my hands feel
I could tell you I'd climb the highest mountain,
I'd swim the deepest sea, or face the fiercest storm
But it could never compare to what I really have to say
You have no trouble with words
They come to you so easily
Teach me your secrets
Tell me your dreams and hopes
Take me by the hand and teach me how to dream
Teach me how to wish
And if I wish for you, make it come true
Teach me the right words to say I love you
Teach me how to say I care
That I'll always be there
Teach me how to say you're the only one for me
Carry me under your wing and show me the way
Take me on the ride through the destiny of love
Let your love, your love that always shines
Show me the way to pure happiness
Understand me and my crooked ways
I've never been through this before
See that I am only human
See that I need love, your love
Guide me through the raging flames
The flames that keep me from you
Take me heart and soul
I want to see what you see
Hear what you hear
Feel what you feel
And love you like nobody ever has
I say these words to you in desperation
And in hopes that we many one day go through life as one.

Teach you how to love? I think you know enough already - certainly it shows as such in this poem. I've never facied teaching as a career myself but I probably would have applied for this post (lol)
Seriously - another fine piece - and I'm sure well directed.
Lots 0' luv
Terry

ummmm most of this poem is a song by Chris Walker called "Teach Me How to Dream". I guess someone is a fan of the soap opera One Life to Live. Perhaps the poem should be called Plagerism? :-) Good try though.

This poem was written when I was a freshman in high school...which would have been uhm..lemme see...1986...if this is a song by clay walker..then who's plagerising who? This was written as a project and was graded..if it was plagerism..i believe i would have been informed...

need to post a lil more to the previous comment...after posting I went and dug out the poem to make sure I in fact knew what I was talking about, The poem itself was written and graded in class in 1986, the grade I recieved was an 92 if you must know...In 1992 it was given honors by a previous teacher at my graduation, I also misread the artist you named and thought you said clay walker, as for chris walker, never heard of him nor have I heard the song..I did some research though, I do see the song out there somewhere but have been unable to get ahold of the lyrics to it or the song itself, I'm curious to know what makes you think I plagerised a song that would have been off the wall for me to know anyhow...Yes I wrote it, yes it's mine..and in the end that's all that matters anyhow...

Wow - it's been awhile since I was last here. Anywho...revisiting and seeing the morons comment on here yet again had me out searching for the ever elusive Chris Walker. I was more determined than ever to find the lyrics that I 'supposedly' stole. Last thing I want is for someone else to read my poem and think it's stolen..so here you go..the lyrics to the Chris Walker song in question:

I only see things black and white
Never shades of gray
My eyes don't work that way, no
I can't imagine fantasies
They never cross my mind
Could be why I'm lonely time to time
Only you
Only you can reach me now
Can you teach me how

Teach me how to dream
Help me make a wish
If I wish for you
Will you make my wish come true
I'm a stranger here
Strange as it may seem
Take me by the heart
Teach me how to dream

You lift me up and give me hope
every single day
I never dreamed that I
Could feel this way
When I'm down
I know where I'm gonna turn
I've got so much to learn

Teach me how to dream
Help me make a wish
If I wish for you
Will you make my wish come true
I'm a stranger here
Strange as it may seem
Take me by the heart
Teach me how to dream

And when I turn out the lights
I turn to you for my inspiration
Long as we're together
You and me
We're gonna dream forever

Teach me how to dream
Help me make a wish
If I wish for you
Will you make my wish come true
I'm a stranger here
Strange as it may seem
Take me by the heart
Teach me how to dream
