I had never met
A tender soul,
A giving heart,
A loving man,
Until I met you.
You have broken down
My walls,
Restored my trust,
Revived my heart,
And set me free.
You have shown me so much.
Love, kindness, gentleness.
A million other things
That I cananot explain.
You have opened my eyes
To a world full of hope and love
Instead of pain and heartache.
You have awakened in me
A yearning
To experience the simple joys
Of life and love and closeness.
I thought that I could never love,
Until I fell in love with you.
I belong to you.
My heart, my soul, my everything
Is yours.
You are closer to me than anyone
Has ever been.
I have no way of protecting
My heart from you.
I have no walls, no defenses with you.
I don't want them there.
I want to offer you everything I have;
Let you see inside me;
Let you know me, all of me.
The hopes, the fears, the joy, the pain.
I want to share everything
With you.
I need you in ways I can't explain.
The love I feel for you
Takes my breath away
All I ask is that you
Be gentle with my fragile heart.

Heather... its been a while since I have read a poem by you and its been worth the wait! This poem was so beautiful and tender and heart felt. Your husband (if its written to him) should be lucky to have you as a wife. Great poem! And hopefully soon I'll read more of your stuff!
