Wake up Call

Contributed by aboutdesouffle on Saturday, 6th December 2003 @ 02:35:18 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I woke up early the day I died
Set the alarm and let it ring
5 times, long and loud

Echoed around my silent walls
As I dressed I hummed a song
I heard on the radio last night

If I'd have know today was my day
I would have smiled more

I am unsure whether a comment would be of any use to you since this is perhaps your suicide note. Are you still with us or did your failure mean you failed suicide...or did you fail the note which of course means you are no longer in the building with no note but the task is already done..if so I am a fool to be writing to a dead person. If not and you are still with us...I urge you to live a while if only to complete this piece of poetry..why go in such a bad state...make sure you have a good piece of poetry to leave us,.. then again rethink and perhaps you could live longer and leave some other notable marks upon the earth...namely...a skeegagle of descendents and perhaps a list of deeds that bears your name..then again I do not know your problem so it is up to you and you counselour, chaplain or therapist to try resolve your issues...a thought...suicide poems usually leave a gripping and dramatic story of the reason behind the act...perhaps you could incorporate that into the finished product. Now this is NOT and encouragement to kill yourself but just a thought about poems of suicide. Anyway....life is too short...as it is...be depressed if you have too but why shorten it prematurely...personally I choose to champion depression and make sure that as a mark I will leave is to create whole lot of depressed people. Oh well just a thought on a sleepless night.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
