THE LITTLE WHITE CLOUD WILL CRY

Contributed by lovingcritters on Monday, 8th December 2003 @ 11:13:57 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

I know a little white cloud that will cry.
tears of cloudberries from the sky!
Was it cloudberries I heard you say?
What in the world are they?

Well, they grow on plants less then 12 inches in height.
They are a golden gift from the far North and
a very tasty delight!
Each plant only produces one flower,
and therefore just one berry dower.

When unripe, the berries are red and hard.
When mature they are a golden-yellow reward.
Soft and juicy like a strawberry, only more sour.
Add a little sugar and you will devour!
They grow on mountains in Northern England
at low cloud levels, and so are called
"Cloudberries!"

For centuries the native Lapp People
gathered these cloudberries for their winter food.
Vitamin C is very prevalent, they are valued
with a natural preservative if kept cold......
Made into Jams & Jellies for taste buds behold.

Early settlers in the Northern regions,
lived on fish and meat only.
Cloudberries became their vitamins daily.
'Tis it any wonder then they have been
called the "Gold of the swamps?"
Enjoyed by millions with great big chomps!

These tiny Cloudberries are picked by hand.
Often when children are out of school, extra
money earned throughout the land.
The Finns have honored them by embossing
them on their new two-euro coin.
A tasty treat, better than Sirloin.

There's tasty cloudberry-flavored liqueurs.
Cloudberry ice cream parfait for recipe brochures.
They are even served at the Noble Prize winners
Gala dinner held in Stockholm Sweden.
A request well chosen.

Swedish cheese cake, tart filling, and wine.
These little cloudberries get around, they shine!
Would you like to try the tasteful little berry?
Find the little while cloud that cries......
take your bowl, and hold it high.......
The little cloud's tears are big juicy Cloudberries, falling from the sky!

They are luscious!
They are divine!
Mmmmmighty fine!

Critters lady, your poem was a delight
-----------------------------------------------
I read what you wrote and I took a bowl,
I found a crying cloud, it was on a roll,
I held the bowl so the tears fell in,
I took a taste, it was irish gin.

I live down south, You may have heard,
We all got chads and votes absurd,
Cloudberries refuse to come, hooha
To the southern State of fair Flada...
