Words for my Friend

For you my friend there are no words To express my feelings and not sound absurd. When I try to speak and I know Im near it They slip away like some ghost or spirit.
Then I look at your expectant gaze And blurt right out with some senseless phrase. I get so frustrated and wonder why My whole vocabulary has left me dry.
Then you look at me and take my hand A gentle squeeze says you understand. Now I thank the lord for such a blend Of all the things that make you my friend.

Our emotions, or lack there of, can have a profound effect on others. Writing a poem can help you sort out what you're feeling and give you an outlet for expressing those emotions. Somehow, it feels safer to put it in a poem. I love the way you write! |
