Why must you be this way?

Look I know you cannot love me But why can you not be At least civil to me Can you not see? Your words have cut deep into my heart I know this fight I did start But why must you be so uncaring I know I was daring To say what I did But would you rather that it was from you hid? My love, you are special to me For you have done so much You are the only thing I can see For my heart you do so gently touch Love is a blessing and curse What could be worse Then to never be loved by the one you adore It is unbearable yet so much more

Very touching but could apply to so many in their early adult years. You close with two great lines.
It didn't work out for me several times
See my poem "He's not the only one" it might help.
