Are you sure you're against abortion??

Contributed by loopylou on Friday, 12th December 2003 @ 10:26:51 AM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

sitting in a hospital in late October
with a child that isn't mine
hearing its screams and pleas
is helplessness calling out to me
where's this child's mother i demand to the nurse
as she walks past the little mite
as if she doesn't hear its calls
gone she replies
such a simple answer yet i can't work out why?
because she a crack whore
and she left her baby a basket case
maybe a typical answer to one of the human race
so what becomes of this baby
and why doesn't it stop crying
i look deep into its eyes
why is there so much pain?
it's addicted to its mothers drugs
the nurse explains
she gives the child one last pitiful look and walks away
but not me no I'll stay
oh little child robbed of your innocense before you were even born
i cradle you in my arms
this brave bundle weeping in my arms is going through more pain within hours of its life it will ever feel again
apart from the emotional of course
i pray it doesn't make you bitter and twisted
knowing your mother was nothing but a drop out
am i against abortion?
what happens to the child when its struggle's over?
past on to a children's home

this child grows up without having a home
and deprived of love
too young to wish it was dead
but knowing it can't stand the hurt
wishing it would go away
then a nice couple come along and offer to take him in
the child is so excited a decent home it's never had to live in
oh and a family to
this child's dreams come true
but the truth is he finds him self only receiving abuse
this life could have been prevented
are you sure you're against abortion?

I agree though in truth I am against abortion but I have stated that I am not for stopping it. I liked your write. Probably will annoy some but maybe not.

you stated your case well...but who is to say this child will not overcome it's life that has been dealt and become someone who will change this world for the better...it is not our decision to make...life is a gift...we make what we get out of it...an overall good write

I enjoyed your poem, very well done, your case and point well shared. I personally am not against abortion, and agree with Ilhar. I believe that anyone can overcome their situation if they really want to enough.

I'm sure I'm against abortion ou painted a vivid picture but that does not change If this child had of been aborted that would have been murder so how is that any better ?

This child might still have a chance at life at being adopted .

My daughter was murder 11 years ago . I know the pain to well of giving birth then having a child wriped from my arms.

That to abort a baby just because you opened your legs but can not face the joy of bringing it up and motherhood well damn so many parents out there can't have kids.

Give the child up for adoption abortion is murder nothing will change my outlook on that.

this didn't 'annoy' me per se. But yes I am against abortion not all kids who are adopted are abused and why kill an innocent child since the mother was the problem and had some problems why kill an innocent baby who could do something amazing with his/her life and help lots of people. I don't get it.

i agree with ur poem....it touched me so much because that is how i see my life sometimes i wish i wasn't brought into this world because my mother made one mistake... call it muder call it what you want but isn't it better not bringing a kid into a world where it knows it wasn't wanted where it would hate life because there mother made one mistake, so the kid has to suffer by being brought up into a world its not ment for... has to go through life wishing it was dead? u ask how i no this? my mother got pregnant at 15...she gave me away... i dont think u realise Rose how much it hurts when your own existance was purley based on the fact that your mother was a whore... fair enough you have ur opinion and your own problems but i dont think anyone can judge anyone on this matter unless you have been through it yourself.... yeah i was given a chance at life.... but i'm not grateful for it... i was raped when i was 10 years old by my so called chance at life.....why bring a kid into the world when its not going to want to be in the world because of the circumstances...its so easy for eveyone to sit there and say its murder....what about suicide...feeling unwated leading to depression what about that feeling because ur mum was a whore and couldn't keep her legs shut no offence but i would rather have been killed when i didn;t know what pain was....

I like the point you put forward, but I think you are very wrong. If you believe what you said ion the poem, do you think all crack addicts should be murdered or just the ones who haven't been born? Abortion is worst because of of all the people who can't have children, my best friend has all sorts of problems and she can't have children so when people flutter around and think they cane have sex and not be c areful and then when they get pregnant they think oh its alright because a doctor will kill it for me i feel really angry. People need to learn there are consequences for their actions, they can't just sleep around and have their child destroyed. They just get rid of it because it's inconvenient for them..well tough, it's too late, you had this child you've got to deal with this. Also there are hundreds of people who can't habve children wanting to adopt babies and when they go to the adoption centre there are never any babies becase everyone wants babies. If there were more in the adoption system then more adoptive-parents would be happy, fewer people would be murdered and the childrenb wouldnt be screwed up by living in a home for years, if they had parents from the begining, they'd be fine. Why should a living breathing, moving, growing, eating, vunreable human being, who is no different from me or you excpt for being smaller, be killed bacause someone else is to careless to use a condom and too selfish to deal with the consequences of their actions. I could never and will never ever agree with abortion in any case...rape, drug addiction, abuse..anything, these are not the child's fault and they have to have a chance at life, if you agree with innapropriate parent's unborn children being destroyed, would you agree with people who are not suitable parents' being castrated so they can't mother or father children? how is this any different. I'm sorry... I respect your view but murder is murder in whatever form. If you want to message me back about this then feel free, I can see your point, that child's life aint gonna be great but not everyone's is, they'll jus have to do the best they can in a bad situation. Also, if the child had already been born, like just born, to this mother, would you have agreed with slaughtering it there and then? I enjoyed your poem however. Nice prosaic style.
