the slender raft that
carries me along the river bank
takes me far away
inside the circles of light
i am enlightened
inside the sound of silence
i am quiet
the concentric circles
of the stone
floating down into the deep
well of knowledge
where everything is known
and nothing is unknown
the fish is being a fish
and i am being me
we wink at one another
passing down stream
i have seen the same
sun, moon and stars
for many centuries
carried the twigs of knowledge
tucked inside my shoe
walking is marked by footsteps
living is experienced in knowing
