it is one am as i sit musing this delimma
what approach do i use with her now
how do i know when to apply it or let it pass
for her mind now fails to reason she only reacts
she is my mother i cant abandon her
she responds to my gentleness and laughter
a raised voice puts her on the defensive
when i smile she smiles if i joke she laughs
but there is a downside to this shes not always nice
she is my mother i cant abandon her
she is stubborn selfish demanding can be hateful
one day of sweetness wipes all the bad days away
we deal with this on a dailey basis hoping for better times
with alzheimers thats all you have hope for the best
she is my mother i cant abandon her
we arent like others we learn compassion the hard way
if you cant manage your loved one there is no tomorrow
so you comprimise for everyones happiness
and you wonder some days do i make sense
she is my mother i cant abandon her

Very sad but great writing!
I know it must be so hard to live with but u can say u r there, no matter what. So many would jus put her in a nursing home. I admire u greatly for taking care of her.
Neither of my parents had altimers but I took care of them both on their death beds and wouldn't have had it any other way.
God blees u-n-yours and I'm sure u give your Mom much comfort. It has to help her jus knowing u r there for her.
Happy holidays and keep up the good writing and great care of your Mom.
