Flying, flying everywhere
Flutter, flutter, flutter
It dips and swerves and curves
In the air
Majestically drifting
Toward the ground
Until it lands
Softly and sweetly
Once a bird's
It sits and stays
Sometimes flying in the wind
It remembers the days
When it used to fly
With the bird
That it belonged to
And then it fell
Deprived of its friend
Now its friend
Sits and sits
Unmoving, unbreathing, unliving
Inside the belly of a cat
Who deprived the feather of its friend
Until a bird
Finds the feather
Picks it up
And takes it home
It sat and sat and sat some more
But the sitting prevailed
And now the feather
Is lonely no more
