how could you see with your eyes closed
i often wondered about that
as we sat drinking tea until dinner
talking about politics all the time
i escaped inside myself
let you talk on and on
about the state of the world
when you can't change a single thing
but you think you can
just by talking about it
i dreamt i was in Spain
getting drunk with Hemingway
wearing a red scarf and pearls
he changed the way people think
i asked you if you'd ever read
The Old Man and the Sea
you waved your hands in the air
like two papery moths fluttering
couldn't remember if you had or not
