There's a brick On one of the walls Of the campus of my school. It's unpainted; The painter must have missed it. It's misshappen and ugly; It was molded that way. Everyone hates it, Swears at it and cusses at it, Beats it and abuses it. It gets spit on And sprayed with grafitti. It's an oddball and knows it, But it tries to be like a normal brick. It tries to hide its differences, But they show clearer. Its identity has long been taken away; Yet, through the fog and clouds, Through the pain and abuse, A glimmer of hope Shines through. Can it be possible, Is it possible That someone could love That brick? That brick Is me.

Wow, that is deep... Think about it, every brick is there for one reason or another. Like the old adage goes.
Even a mountain needs the smallest rock to be a mountain...

This just touched the deepest parts of me. Your ending, "That someone could love
That brick? That brick Is me." Really got to me. I just want to give you a big hug. You expressed yourself so well in this write. Great job..

Wow...your first poem posted here in 2004 and The Brick, part II in 2016....that/'/s a lot of time.
Here/'/s something to chew on- that /'/brick/'/...."everyone hated that brick, etc etc.". let me ask you this...all those people...if you could go back to them now, would they remember ANY of the /'/normal/'/ bricks?
There IS NOTHING WRONG with being the /'/odd brick out/'/. Preferred by me in fact.
Embrace your uniqueness that makes you YOU...don/'/t spend energy trying to be a normal brick in the wall.
My best to you, Friend.
