Still and tired, but unsleeping
He sits in his chair like a burnished throne.
His eyes flame reflections
As his mind cycles the day.
What was it she said?-"Live the Dream"?
So much for that.
The chill that spirals and circles overhead
Descends upon the tile mozaic of the town.
The shadow of your life is lengthening,
And the hour of your youth is waning.
So do not waste it on some unreachable dream.
Just because a star seems to glow all around you,
Does not mean you can take it from the sky.
Outside the snow gathers in waves
As the wind blows in the tide.
He cradles his glass and stares at the flames
But when the fire dies and the glass is drained
You will still be in his mind, laughing and far away...
Further away with each passing hour, never turning.
Have mercy and leave this already troubled mind.
The Snow will go on falling and the wind may go on blowing,
But these feet will soon stop swinging.
