Ye Who Ask Me Thus Hear

Contributed by Qohinoor on Wednesday, 14th January 2004 @ 01:59:20 AM in AEST
Topic: PoemsonBeauty

O, ye who ask me thus hear:
Out from the freezing mountains
And the fresh green hills I am come;
I am who I am,
the Wish-born Muse
An Angel that dreams,
Up on the horizon of the sunset.

I have but no name,
Among the languages of mortals
I have but no voice
That can be heard by man or beast...

Yet my name
Is said aloud
By the wind among the leaves
By the rumour of the twillight
By the cool touch and reflection of Diana
By the sabatons, beating mercilessly
Along the beaten campaign-tracks
Of those loved by Mars.

Yet my voice
Is recorded
By the maestro with his pen
By the singer with his spirit
By the poet, that warrior-bard
By the minstrel that fell,
His voice, echoing mine;
Into eternity.
