The Writer.

THE WRITER(Peter Sprenkeler)

We sit at the keyboards a brand new creation awaits,
We look for inspiration with minds alert and juices flowing.
New avenues we will travelbuoyed with expectancy,
New seeds in the literary forest we hope to be sowing.

Yet what is it that drives us down this oft rocky road?
Is it the lure of fame or wealthnotoriety and glory?
The reality is very few ever taste any success at all,
So what is it that compels us to author yet another story?

For mostfinancial gain does not come into the equation,
It is purely a creative passionthat refuses to be restrained.
A cauldron of emotionsteaming with fire and life,
From the heart it poursnothing will keep it contained.

Fingertips driven by a soul pounding with passion,
Tap the keys and the authors being lies there naked on the page.
Never is there room for thoughts of success in this process,
No distractions are possiblethe authors spirit is out of its cage.

The words lie there as glowing embers on these pages afire,
It is donethe author reclines drainedemotionally spent.
Reading the words closelya time of polishing and reflection follows,
Is the piece worthyto a potential reader should it be sent?

And so it is with most authors I believecreative beings,
Enjoying the freedom of speechtheir souls before the world to lay.
If any success comes at allit would be a most welcome bonus,
But to entertain is everythingin the words they have penned today.

And so the door is closed gently on the slumbering literary spirit,
Until next time it leaps out ready to burn up the smoking keys.
When once again the fire will consume an unsuspecting author,
Only when the heart lies on the pagewill this beast be truly free.

So be there successor be there notirrelevant,
The frequent and recurring writing passion just must be sated.
It may be a best selleror end up in the wastepaper bin,
Success may be hoped forbut never anticipated.

If we wrote for financial gain, we'd be homeless :)

When you hear the music in your head, i don't think we have any other choice... a curse or a gift, i've often wondered.

Enjoyed your views on this, nicely done.

Hi pete,
as a writer myself we must be careful what we write
cause others could take it the wrong way.
expressing one feeling is great,it the way we do that make us right.
always remember to be true to one self.
